“A drop of blood can save your life! "

Every year World Blood Donor Day is celebrated on 14 June and this event serves as thanks to the voluntary and the unpaid blood donors for saving the life of those who are in need. It also makes an effort to raise awareness throughout the world about the need for the regular blood donations for helping and saving the lives of individuals as well as provide communities to have access to health care. The slogan for World Blood Donor Day 2019 is “Safe blood for all” and the host country this year is Rwanda. The global event on this day will be held in Kigali, Rwanda.
So what’s the theme of World Blood Donor Day about?
The theme focuses on the fact that people at large must achieve universal health coverage. There is a need to raise awareness of the universal need for safe blood in order to deliver proper health care. The public at large should have awareness about the voluntary donation of safe blood and how important it can be for those who are in need of it. The theme this year on World Blood Donor Day is to strongly encourage more people all over the world to become voluntary and regular blood donors because such an action will be the key of building up a foundation of national blood supplies. Moreover, it will be sufficient for patients who are in or will be in need of blood transfusion.
In simple word, the objectives of World Blood Donor Day are:
1.      To focus on the need for blood donation
2.      To encourage those who have not donated blood yet to start donating
3.      To try build up donor’s attention, willingness and care to donate blood regularly
4.      To maintain supplies of blood so as to achieve universal health care.
Your selfless act of donating blood can save and help millions in need of safe and healthy blood to live and survive.
