World No Tobacco Day - 31st May 2019 | Royal Medical Transcription

“One puff of smoke, one day less in your life!”
World No Tobacco Day is celebrated every year by the World Health Organization (WHO) on 31 May & for the year 2019 the focus is on “tobacco & lung health.” It is an annual awareness day that is intended to point the various health risks that are associated with the usage of tobacco and also to discourage the use of tobacco in any forms. World No Tobacco Day encourages the government to undertake effective policies in order to reduce smoking and also using other tobacco products.
The slogan of World No Tobacco Day 2019 is intended to draw attention to the role of lungs in the human body and also the wellbeing of the population at large. The WHO on the World No Tobacco Day speaks about how harmful the usage of tobacco can be on human lungs and the consumption of the same should be stopped immediately. As per WHO, using tobacco kills almost 7 million people each year around the world & the number is only expected to grow more if no anti-tobacco actions are taken into consideration.
Thus the slogan “tobacco & lung health”, acts as a call to adopt effective measures to cut down the consumption of tobacco and fight for tobacco control.
